Description
Ekovore modular communal composters process organic waste in shared spaces—apartment buildings, schools, businesses, and community gardens. Their raised structure provides six-sided protection against rodents. They operate on all types of soil thanks to their integrated compost started bed. Their sloping base allows for gravity emptying directly into a standard wheelbarrow, thus reducing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for maintenance workers and gardeners. Made in France and delivered as a kit, they can be combined into various sizes to suit each site.

How it works: the compost started bed
The compost started bed is the biological engine of the composter. When setting it up, fill it with living soil—a shovelful of garden soil or mature compost is all you need. This introduces the microorganisms, worms, and microfauna that decompose organic waste. This principle ensures rapid composting from the very first use.

Rodent protection
The structure completely encloses the six visible sides of the composter, preventing rodents from accessing it. This design clearly distinguishes it from open or wooden composters, which are less resistant to rodents in urban environments.

Ergonomics and reduction of musculoskeletal disorders
Raised off the ground, this composter allows you to fill a standard wheelbarrow using only gravity. This eliminates the need to lift materials. The ergonomic door and lids make daily filling and turning easy.

Modularity and available volumes
You can combine modules to adjust the total capacity according to the number of users and the volume of biowaste on site. To complete your installation, also consult our Ekovore individual composters and the ADEME best practices.
Technical characteristics
Galvanised steel structure. Untreated, naturally rot-proof, 21mm-thick Douglas-fir panels. A space is maintained between each board to allow full peripheral aeration and promote aerobic fermentation.

How the composter works
Successive turnings aerate the compost to speed up the breakdown of biowaste.
A brown matter module can be added to improve the quality of the compost produced.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can this compost bin accommodate?
The sizing depends on the chosen volume and the combination of modules. Contact us with the number of users and the estimated volume of biowaste per week for a sizing tailored to your site.
Will the composter work on concrete or impermeable ground?
Yes. Its structure on legs with a seeding table allows it to work on any type of ground, including concrete or paved, without direct contact with the soil.
Do you need one composter per waste stream or is one enough?
A single modular composter can process all the biowaste from a site. Its modular design allows for increased capacity by adding modules if the volume of waste changes.
Does the assembly require technical skills?
No. The composter comes as a kit and is assembled using a drill with a Phillips head bit. The wheelbarrow and seeding soil are not included.
What is the difference with the Ekovore non-modular collective composting pavilion?
The modular design allows for capacity adjustment through module combinations, making it more adaptable to sites where the volume of biowaste may fluctuate. The standard multi-family building model offers a fixed structure for 50 households.
Does the composter comply with the requirements of local authorities for the sorting of biowaste?
Oui. Il répond aux besoins des collectivités et gestionnaires d’immeubles dans le cadre de la loi AGEC, qui impose la généralisation du tri à la source des biodéchets pour tous les producteurs depuis janvier 2024.
