NPK | bank

Stainless steel wall-mounted tank for storing urine collected by NPK dry urinals for both men and women. Can be installed in a plant room or on a wall, without the need for a water mains connection. The third component of the complete NPK system. Urine can be recycled as agricultural fertiliser. Designed for block of flats, public buildings and public access buildings.

Description

The NPK facade-mounted urine tank is the third component of the NPK source-collecting urine system. Made of stainless steel, it stores 570 liters of urine from NPK dry male and female urinals installed in the restrooms of apartment buildings, public buildings, and public access buildings. It can be installed in a technical room or on the building facade. The stored urine can be used as an agricultural fertilizer rich in nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), in line with a circular economy approach. Each component of the NPK system can be installed independently, allowing the configuration to be adapted to the building and budget.

The NPK system: three flexible components

Each component is installed independently, depending on the building’s configuration and available budget. The system is suitable for condominiums, public buildings, and local authorities wishing to implement a source-based urine collection and treatment system.

The male and female urinals transfer the collected urine to a reservoir on the facade. This is then pumped by an external service and used as a natural fertilizer rich in NPK for gardens and green spaces. For more information, consult the Ecological Sanitation Network — RAE.

Maintenance and durability

The stainless steel construction ensures robustness, corrosion resistance, and ease of cleaning. The NPK facade-mounted urine tank integrates discreetly into the building’s architecture while providing secure and hygienic storage. Discover our other urine collection solutions as well.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the capacity of the NPK front-mounted urine tank?

575 litres per tank—the total capacity then depends on the number of tanks connected to one another, based on the number of dry urinals installed in the building.

Does the NPK tank require a connection to the mains water supply or the mains drainage system?

Yes. The overflow is connected to the sewerage system. It can be emptied periodically by a specialist service or a partner agricultural recycling scheme.

Can the cistern be installed without the NPK urinals?

Yes. The tank is compatible with dry urinals from other brands. However, each component of the system can be ordered and installed separately, allowing you to expand an existing installation gradually.

Where is the tank installed in a block of flats?

It is installed either in a dedicated utility room — such as a bicycle storage room, boiler room or refuse storage room — or directly on the building façade, depending on the building’s architectural layout. Its installation is assessed on a case-by-case basis for each project.

How is stored urine collected and recycled?

Urine can be collected periodically by local agricultural organisations and used as a liquid fertiliser as an alternative to fossil-based fertilisers. For more information, please visit the RAE.

What is the difference between this tank and a conventional sewage system?

A conventional sewage system mixes urine and faeces with other wastewater, making it impossible to recover nutrients and necessitating costly treatment at a sewage treatment plant. The NPK tank separates urine at source, preserving its agricultural value and reducing the pollutant load sent into the sewer system.
